Solution to 3: R1V0eEfQY8nNhCSyHcRd4Q==
In this puzzle, the URL bar says:
.../R1V0eEfQY8nNhCSyHcRd4Q==/?cipher=aes128-ecb&enc=base64&key=insecurepassword
Which is what it says on the tin. The name of the puzzle is base64 encoded ciphertext, the key is ascii/utf-8, and the encryption used is aes128-ecb. I suppose the key could also have been base64, but the padding (= character) would be incorrect. Regardless, without knowing what it is, online tools like [1][2] will (usually) give you the correct plaintext, which is "/iminyourarea".
This prompts you to head to:
quest.skule.ca/2T0/exhibit2/iminyourarea
Where you find there is again some extra stuff in your URL bar:
.../iminyourarea/?area=
The puzzle name and first line of the flavour text are lyrics from the Death Grips song Hacker, and (are generally understood to) refer to phone area codes. Putting in the NANPA area codes for the mentioned locations into the URL causes them to be replaced by a different number. All other codes are left untouched.
New Brunswick: 506 -> 127
Wyoming: 307 -> 0
Washington, DC: 202 -> 1
Putting them in the puzzle's order gives 127.0.0.1, an IPv4 loopback address with hostname localhost.
