On a scale from one to ten
When you enter this room, a rather short and stout chap by the name of Balin approaches you. Balin and his fellow dwarves returned from a field expedition to collect rock samples for their lord, Mohs, but put all of their rocks in the same bag. Balin can only be sure of the following facts and asks you to arbitrate:
- Kili's rock is tougher than Oin's and Gloin's
- Dwalin's rock was identified to rhyme with a rather difficult riddle
- Balin's rock was softer than his brother Dwalin's by more than two other rocks collected
- Dori, Ori and Nori had rocks of consecutive toughness, of which Ori had the softest, but not the softest of all
- Fili brought home the most valuable rock
- Oin's rock was tougher than Dori's with no other rocks in between
- Balin could boast that he did not have the softest rock
- Bombur's rock was either in the softer half and tougher than Nori's rock or in the tougher half and softer than Kili's rock
